It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of TotalCommercial’s beloved and dedicated founder Richard “Rick” Orr, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Rick was a kind, compassionate family man whose life impacted all who he came into contact with. Rick entered the real estate business in 1983 with a focus in commercial properties. As the CRE industry expanded so did his vision recognizing a need for a more efficient way to connect brokers, prospective buyers, and tenants.

In 1990, Rick founded The Property Sourcebook, a printed commercial real estate listing publication that eventually produced more than one million printed pages every month.

Years before online property databases became commonplace, Rick Orr had the foresight to take the publication online in August 1995, positioning the platform among the industry’s early digital listing resources as the internet was becoming mainstream.

Rick sold The Property Sourcebook in 2005 and, together with the help of his son David, launched TotalCommercial in 2006 which, as you know, decades later has become a widely used resource for commercial property listings, professional directories, and industry networking.

Rick was also closely involved with several Central Florida’s commercial real estate organizations. Serving as a director of the Central Florida Commercial Real Estate Association and participated in the Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association’s Commercial Council.

Through TotalCommercial, Rick provided dealmaking meetings and other programs to help brokers promote properties, exchange market information, and, most importantly, build long lasting professional relationships that would last a lifetime.

It should come as no surprise for me to say Rick’s most cherished life's work was TotalCommercial and the community he built over years stemming from a deeply grounded, undying love for serving the needs of his family and others until the very end.

I pledge to honor Rick's legacy and to keep the mission and foundational principles of TotalCommercial alive as we continue to expand the platform.

It is my hope that Rick’s contributions to the commercial real estate industry, TotalCommercial and the TotalCommercial Community will live on forever and that his service to others never be forgotten.
