Education:

Includes Pierce (where the city library stands) and Richey Elementary Schools in New Port Richey and Gulf Junior High (now Schwettman) and Gulf Senior High (now Gulf Middle).

Attended St. Petersburg Junior College, obtaining an Associates of Arts Degree. Entered the United States Navy and attended Naval Intelligence School before being sent to active duty in South Vietnam.  

Returned to New Port Richey in 1972 and joined the family real estate firm of F.I. Grey & Son, Inc. Received extensive training in commercial investment real estate, becoming a candidate for Certified Commercial Investment Member of the National Association of Realtors. 

 

Government:

United States Navy Intelligence 1968-1972, serving in Vietnam, Europe and Homestead, Florida.

Appointed in 1993 to serve on the Pasco County Planning and Zoning Board, presently serving as Chairman.

Presently serving as Vice Chairman of Port Richey Planning and Zoning.

Presently serving as Co-Chair of New Port Richey’s Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board.

 

Community Affairs:

Member of the 6th Judicial District Grievance Committee for the Florida Bar Association.

West Pasco Little League:      Player, Member of the All-Star Team, Director, Coach, Umpire & Chief. Also coached for Hudson Little League, Hudson P.A.L., New Port Richey P.A.L.

West Pasco Chamber of Commerce:  Served as President, Vice President, and Past Chairman of the Board, as well as a member of the Board of Directors.

Chasco Fiesta: Co-Chairman 1995, 1996. Chairman for Entertainment and Member of Steering Committee to present. Set the framework for the “new” Chasco Fiesta in 1993 beginning the move to downtown NPR and setting up Gold Medal Sponsors for the first time as well as introducing the Music segment to the event.

American Cancer Society:      Relay for Life. Team Sponsor since 2001.

Leadership Pasco:       Class of 2001.

Acquisition of Parkland:         Instrumental in the acquisition for the City of NPR, an 80 acre, riverfront park site, assisting the city in obtaining one-half of the needed funds from the State of Florida and a $175,000 donation from my client (land owner) as well as making an additional, personal cash contribution to offset a portion of the development costs. This effort took several years to complete.

Also instrumental in the acquisition for the City of Port Richey of a 7 acre waterfront park site and obtaining a 100% grant from the State of Florida to fund the purchase.

 


 

Service Club Affiliations

New Port Richey Rotary. Member of approximately 20 years, serving as program chairman and helping with general fundraising.

Port Richey Rotary. Member for approximately 5 years. Active in raising funds for community projects.

Church:

Member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church since birth, which church was founded in my great grandmother Casey’s home on Orange Lake in 1922. Have served as alter server, minister of communion and counsel and realtor to the parish for many years.

 

Personal Data

Father of seven children, three biological and four adopted. Married 39 years to my wife Cindy. Three sons are officers in the United States Army and have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

 

My family has operated a real estate business in New Port Richey since 1924. My Grandfather, F.I. Grey, was a former mayor of New Port Richey as well as my Uncle Bill Grey. My father served on the city council and had the distinction of being the first Captain of the first NPR Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, he was the first male baby born in NPR and the first quarterback on Gulf High School’s first football team.
